Microchaps is an audio culinary installation that researches how music influences the focus and flavour experience around food. Participants create music together by eating the aperitifs, the way and rhythm of how is eaten influences the sound. Each aperitif highlights a timbre of sound and an accompanying flavour; sweet, spicy and savoury. Through facial-tracking a sound is generated with every bite and chew, together harmonies, chord progressions and rhythms are made.
Microchaps was exhibited during Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2019 at Het Huis in Utrecht.
